    • Great commuter car

I really love this car. Seriously, the car is a gas saver if you want it and if you need power, you can switch to sport mode. I have the pearl white and just the XLE hybrid model. Backup camera and the center console is well built. Iphone somewhat integration. I'm right now averaging 34.4MPG combined and I use sides streets mostly to go to work. 11 miles one way. Comfortable seats. Cornering is not as good as my Camry hybrid 2007. It's probably heavier and bigger than the camry. Over all though, it's a 10 and i would recommend it.
    • A nice place to spend the miles

This is my second used Avalon. This time I found a super-clean six-year-old 2013 Limited and after driving 10,000 miles, I'm a fan. The tires were replaced with a quieter set (Yokahoma YK740) and the old-tech 2013 factory stereo a refreshed with a newer 2019 (Kenwood/Focal/JBL) system bringing it up-to-date with AppleCarPlay and Android Auto. We frequently have four adults on board and everyone has enough space and the quiet ride keeps everyone calm. Like all Toyotas, the seats are super comfortable and the heating and cooling features are very effective. The surfaces and spaces are easy to keep looking showroom new (no gloss black - hooray!). We love long interstate trips in the car with those awesome seats and our (now) audiophile entertainment system. If you read a bit about this car you'll learn Toyota had an odd problem with the seat backs falling off and I confirmed mine were replaced on warranty (phew). The biggest nitpick with my Avalon is with the unbalanced nature of the suspension — it feels a bit front heavy and nose dives a little. You get used to it, but rent an Impala for a week and you'll notice a difference as the big GM is better planted. I did test drive two mid-generation 2016 Avalons with the suspension refresh but they were just more squishy, and not to my liking. On balance, the car's a delight and I'm sure this Avalon will someday be replace with another one (or a Lexus ES). They've got me for life.
    • Outstanding Car... will buy it again.

After a ton of research, I purchased this car new in November of 2014. It has been an outstanding car. Reliability is 100 percent: has started every time and never failed to get me where I wanted to go. It is safe: I was rear ended a couple months ago and the seatback supported me completely. It has a 278 HP engine and for a big car it moved down the road quite nicely. I get over 30 MPG on the highway. I bought the tech package, and even the 2014 Adaptive Cruise technology is very good to have. The Pre-collision Warning system has saved my butt twice. As I said, the next time I need a car (which may be about 200,000 miles from now), I will buy an Avalon.
